Use of Population Maps for Urban Planning and Health Management: Practical Exercices in QGIS
31 January 2019, Nairobi, Kenya

UNHabitat MAUPP BELSPO

In the framework of the MAUPP research project, a large and freely-available spatial database has been built for about 50 cities in Sub-Saharan Africa and is ready to be used for health and vulnerability assessments. The database includes built-up density, land cover, land use and population density maps at different spatial resolutions.

During this workshop, we will demonstrate the potentialities of these newly developed data for decision making in a number of realistic situations, e.g. health planning, epidemiology, humanitarian health crisis, natural disister, etc. The workshop is dedicated to policymakers and practicioners including public officials, international organizations, development agencies, NGOs, etc. Basic GIS knowledge is required and participants need to bring their own laptop.

Location: APHRC Campus, Kitisuru, Nrb., Nairobi.

Please note that a conference is also organized on the previous day. See here for more details.
